Take use of your Thanksgiving leftovers and make yummy turkey meatballs for your dog. They can be served a fulfilling treat or as added to your dogs meal. You just don't want to use the same amount of dog food as normal to adjust calorie intake.
You dont want to leave the skin on the turkey because too much sodium is not good for our fur babies. Removing the skin will remove salt and seasoning.
LETS GET STARTED
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 24 pieces 1x
Category: Meal Mix-in
Ingredients
1 lb of leftover turkey, with bones and skin removed
½ cup rolled oats
2 eggs
2 tbsp plain low-fat yogurt
1 cup mixed veggies (I used carrot, peas, and green beans)
¼ cup fresh parsley
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400º
Place leftover turkey into your food processor bowl and pulse a couple time to break up the meat.
Add the rolled oats and pulse until well-combined and no large pieces appear.
Add your eggs and yogurt and pulse until the mixture starts to thicken and hold together.
Transfer mixture to a large bowl.
Add your veggies and parsley and mix with your hands until incorporated.
Roll into 1” balls and place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet or aluminum.
Bake for 20 minutes or until just becoming golden around the edges.
The great thing about these meatballs is that they can last up to 5 days in the refrigerator and they can also be frozen!
ENJOY!
